The Ford Explorer offers generous cabin space, but when all rows of seats are in use, the boot fills up quickly. Roof crossbars allow you to transport a roof box, skis, or bicycles while maintaining full comfort for all passengers.
We carry rack sets for the sixth generation with the code designation U6, production of which started in 2019. The production date stated in your vehicle registration document is decisive. We currently do not offer crossbars for older versions manufactured from 2011 to 2019 or for newer models from 2024 onwards.
With the Explorer U6 model, you will encounter two mounting methods: raised roof rails and a bare roof. You can easily find out which version your car has by a simple inspection.
Raised roof rails stand above the roof surface and you can slide your hand between them and the body along their entire length. The rack feet attach directly around them. A bare roof has no guiding elements on top, and the rack is fixed using specially shaped clamps directly behind the car door frame.
The Explorer is a robust car with a higher roof position. When securing bicycles into holders or loading bags into a box, opening the door and stepping on the sill will help you. This gives you better stability and more comfortable reach to the cargo.
The high build of the car together with a loaded box or bicycles can significantly change the overall clearance height. Always check height restrictions before entering underground garages, multi-storey car parks, or low shelters.
