The Patriot in this generation uses raised roof rails. You can recognize them by the fact that they stand above the roof surface and you can easily pass your hand between them and the sheet metal along their entire length. The roof rack feet grip the rail from both the outside and the inside.

When choosing the bar profile, consider what you will be carrying on the roof most often. If you plan to carry bike or ski racks, check their mounting method. The boxy body of the Patriot provides good access to cargo, but when loading a roof box, keep the overall height of the car in mind. The clearance height when entering underground garages and low shelters will change. The total roof load must include the crossbars themselves, the empty box, and all luggage inside.
