Kia Sportage has gone through multiple generations during its existence, and the mounting method for crossbars has changed accordingly. Select your generation by production year and proceed to the setups designed for your roof.
Older versions of the Sportage use a different mounting system than newer models. The first generation JA (I) from 1993 to 2004 and the second generation JE from 2004 to 2010 feature raised roof rails that stand above the roof profile with clear space underneath. Starting from the third generation SL from 2010 to 2015, Kia switched to flush roof rails that lie directly on the roof sheet metal without any free space underneath.
The QL generation from 2015 to 2021 as well as the NQ5 generation starting production in 2021 feature flush roof rails. The roof rack feet clamp directly onto their profile. Since the roof shape changed between these two generations, a setup from the QL generation may not fit the newer NQ5 model. Therefore, when choosing, rely on the exact production date from your vehicle registration document rather than the year of first registration.
The Sportage offers good passenger space, but during family ski trips or summer holidays, the trunk fills up quickly. Roof boxes, ski racks, and bicycle holders can be mounted on the crossbars. When loading a taller SUV, keep in mind that the total height of the vehicle with cargo will increase, which you need to watch out for especially before entering underground or covered garages.
