The Mercedes-Benz GLE offers a spacious interior, but for a family trip to the mountains or with bikes, extra roof cargo space comes in handy. Choose your vehicle generation and proceed to select the crossbars.
Sets are available for two generations of this model. The first generation, designated as W166, was produced from 2015 to 2018. The second generation, designated as V167, entered production in 2018. For the correct choice, the year of manufacture stated in your vehicle registration document is decisive.
Both generations use raised rails. You can easily recognize this type: the structure stands above the roof level and you can slide your fingers underneath along its entire length. The rack feet are secured by clamping them from both the outside and the inside.
Even though both versions have the same mounting system, the bodywork itself and the spacing differ, so the sets are not interchangeable. Please check the package contents in the detail of the selected product before purchasing.
The GLE is a massive SUV, so the roof is relatively high. When installing a roof box or loading bikes, it is useful to use the open door sill to reach the middle of the roof. Also remember the total height of the vehicle once loaded, which is important when entering covered garages.
The maximum roof load capacity stated by the manufacturer in the car manual includes the weight of the cargo together with the crossbars and the box itself.
