Opel uses all major roof solutions across its vehicle fleet. Smaller city cars like the Adam and older generations of the Corsa or Astra Hatchback often feature factory-prepared fixed mounting points with threads directly in the roof. Bodies without these points, such as the Insignia Sedan or newer hatchbacks, represent a bare roof where the rack foot rests on the edge of the bodywork and a steel clamp catches under the door frame.
For family estates and crossovers, you will encounter two types of roof rails. Older models and utility vehicles such as the Antara, Agila, selected versions of the Astra Sports Tourer, or the Combo have raised roof rails with a clear space underneath, which the foot clamps all the way around. Newer SUVs and estates like the Crossland X, Grandland X, or Insignia Sports Tourer have switched to flush roof rails that sit tightly against the roof with no gap and require a precisely shaped mounting kit.

Crossbars form the basic load-carrying system to which you then attach the cargo itself. When choosing the bar profile, consider your intended use. Aluminium bars with an aerodynamic profile create less air resistance and are suitable for long highway trips, plus they offer a T-track on top for quick sliding in of bike or ski holders. Traditional square steel bars will be appreciated for occasional cargo transport or heavier materials.
