Land Cruiser, older RAV4 and Verso sit on raised roof rails that the foot grips from above and below. Yaris, Aygo, C-HR and Corolla Hatchback have a bare roof and the carrier anchors under the door frame on them. Newer models like Yaris Cross, Corolla Estate or Auris Touring Sports switched to flush roof rails that lie tightly against the roof. One rule for the whole brand does not apply here, and the year of manufacture matters more than the car class.
RAV4 is a good example of why it pays to check the generation. Older years have raised rails, the XA40 generation was sold with both raised rails and a bare roof, and the newest cars have flush rails. Three different kits under one model name. Corolla Verso and Corolla Estate differ similarly, even though they are called almost the same in everyday speech.

Proace City and similar van versions tend to have a higher roof and a different mounting layout than passenger models, so experience from a family car of the same brand does not apply to them. With commercial vehicles, the wheelbase length also matters because it determines how many crossbars fit on the roof and how far apart they are.
