The BMW X2 exists in two generations. The first bears the internal designation F39 and was produced from 2018 to 2023. The second generation, designated U10, entered production in 2023. For the correct selection, the exact production year in the vehicle registration document is decisive, not the date of first registration. Each generation has different roof curves and mounting points, so kits cannot be interchanged between them.
For both generations of the BMW X2, there are two roof configurations. The first variant is flush roof rails, which lie flat against the bodywork with no gap underneath. The second variant is a bare roof, where no elevated structure is prepared on the surface and the rack rests directly on the roof, attaching under the door frame. Inspect your car before purchasing to choose the corresponding kit.
The sloping rear part of the bodywork reduces the boot volume, so a roof rack comes in handy when heading out for a skiing trip or packing for a family holiday. The vehicle height allows for comfortable loading of bicycles directly from the ground. If you plan to carry a longer roof box, check its position relative to the open tailgate so that the upper edge of the boot does not hit the rear part of the box when opened.
