The M-Class went through three generations that differ in roof shape and roof mounting profile. The first generation designated as W163 was produced from 1997 to 2005. The successor W164 covers the years 2005 to 2011, and the last generation before the series was renamed carries the code W166 from 2011 to 2015.
When choosing, follow the manufacturing year recorded in your vehicle registration document. Each generation has its own dimensions and feet, so a setup from one model is not guaranteed to fit another.
In the M-Class offer, you will find solutions exclusively for raised roof rails. You can easily recognize them at a glance: they stand elevated above the bodywork, and you can comfortably slip your hand through the entire length between them and the roof. The rack feet grip them from the side and below, ensuring a firm connection.
The M-Class is a robust vehicle on which you can easily mount a spacious roof box, ski racks, or several bike holders. Keep in mind that the roof is relatively high. When loading bikes, it is helpful to step on the door sill. Always verify the total height of the car along with the loaded box before entering underground garages, parking structures, or hotel entrances.
