This generation of the SEAT Altea was manufactured with a bare roof without any additional elements. The rack feet rest on the roof surface and specially shaped steel brackets are fixed behind the upper edge of the door opening.
Thoroughly clean and degrease the areas where the feet will sit before each installation. Dust or fine sand trapped under the rubber pads could damage the car paint under pressure and vibration while driving.
When choosing a setup, you will encounter two different types of bars. Traditional plastic-coated steel crossbars generally have a rectangular cross-section. Accessories such as bicycle racks or boxes are mounted onto them using U-bolts that wrap around the bar from below.
Aluminum crossbars usually have a more aerodynamic shape, which helps reduce air resistance and noise at higher speeds. They are equipped with an upper T-slot in the crossbar, into which carrier adapters are simply inserted from the side.
Make sure you have the standard Altea version and not the extended Altea XL variant, which may require different feet. You can verify the exact production year in your vehicle registration document.
