The raised rails on the fourth-generation estate stand above the roof and you can easily pass your hand between them and the sheet metal along their entire length. The rack feet clamp around them from the side and underneath when tightened.
Before the first installation, simply clean the rails of dust and mud so that the protective rubber on the feet adheres firmly to the surface and does not move even at highway speeds.
Choose crossbars also according to the accessories you plan to transport. If you have an older roof box with U-bolt mounting, check their width to fit the profile of the selected bars. For more modern bicycle or ski holders with T-bolt mounting, bars with a top T-track are intended.
Do not forget that you must include the load itself, the roof box, and the crossbars themselves in the total roof load capacity. This permitted limit is specified by the manufacturer in the car manual.
