The SEAT Leon handles everyday driving and family shopping with ease, but when heading to the mountains or carrying bikes, the hatchback trunk quickly reaches its limit. Choosing a roof rack depends on your vehicle's generation, as individual model years differ fundamentally in their mounting method.
When choosing a rack, the production year listed in the vehicle registration document is decisive, not the date of first registration. For the first generation designated as Leon 1M1 from 1999 to 2005, a different solution is used than for newer versions.
For the third generation Leon 5F produced from 2012 to 2020 and the fourth generation Leon KL, production of which started in 2020, the mounting is handled differently. If you have the estate version, check out the separate Leon ST category.
In our offer for the SEAT Leon, we have assemblies for two different roof types. The older 1M1 generation uses factory-prepared fixing points into which specific feet are mounted.
Newer generations 5F and KL feature a bare roof design. In this case, the rack feet rest on the roof and attach behind the bodywork lip in the door area. Always check the exact part composition and installation procedure in the detail of the specific product.
The hatchback has a relatively low body height, making roof boxes and bike racks easy to load without stretching. For longer cargo boxes, remember to adjust the crossbar distance so that the trunk lid does not hit the rear of the box when fully opened.
