The Focus Estate is one of the most common family cars, but the selection of roof mounts has changed significantly over the years. The older first generation MK1 (1999 to 2004) uses raised roof rails. Its successor MK2 (2004 to 2011) brought, alongside raised roof rails, a solution called flush T-tracks in the roof. For newer models MK3 (2011 to 2018) and DEH (from 2018 onwards), the manufacturer deployed flush roof rails.
When choosing, rely on the production year in your vehicle registration document and simultaneously look at the car's roof. Raised roof rails stand visibly above the surface and you can slide your entire palm underneath them. Flush roof rails lie directly on the roof without any gap. With the MK2 generation, you will encounter either raised roof rails or a T-track directly in the roof prepared for inserting mounting adapters.

The estate offers a favorable body height. You can load both bicycles and a roof box from the pavement without having to step on the door sills. The roof length allows for transporting long cross-country skis or spacious boxes. Before driving, check whether the load or the rear edge of the box interferes with the opening path of the tailgate.
