The fourth generation of the Octavia Combi designated as NX hit the market in 2019 and brought one major change regarding the roof rack: flush rails instead of raised rails. The kits for this generation are therefore designed specifically for them.
Try to slide your fingers under the rail. If they do not pass through and the rail appears to be part of the roof, it is flush. Usually, you will also find covers under which there are anchoring points, and the foot is bolted directly into them. A raised rail, such as the one on older Octavias, stands above the roof and the gap underneath is clearly visible.
You cannot transfer your crossbars. On the 5E generation the rail stands above the roof and the foot clamps around it, while on the NX it anchors into points hidden within the rail. These are two different systems, so the older setup cannot be adapted with a different foot either. Both generations were also produced concurrently for some time in 2019 and 2020, so for a car from this period, rely on the production date.
A roof box is the most worthwhile addition for a station wagon. Holiday luggage goes on the roof and the trunk stays free for things you want to have at hand along the way. Position the box on the crossbars so that the tailgate does not hit it when opened; with longer boxes pushed too far back, this is the most common cause of scratched doors. Bicycles are easy to load onto the Octavia, as the station wagon roof is not high.
Select your accessories together with the crossbars, because both the box and the holders clamp onto their profile and not every mount fits every shape. If you plan to leave the crossbars on the car all year round, it is also worth looking at the profile shape; the aluminum wing profile is noticeably quieter on the highway than the square steel one.
