For this generation of the A3 Sportback, you will encounter two roof types. Flush rails lie flat against the body with no gap underneath, meaning you cannot slip your fingers between the rail and the sheet metal. The second variant is a bare roof, which has nothing attached to it, and the rack feet grip the edge of the bodywork in the door frame area.
