The Audi A6 Sedan was supplied with a bare roof design. In this case, the crossbars are secured using precisely shaped feet and kits that rest against the bodywork edge and hook behind the door frame lip. Each generation of the sedan has different body curves and door opening profiles, which is why the mounting from generation 4F does not fit the newer C7.
The sedan body style has a deep trunk, but skis or snowboards are difficult to transport inside, and bikes will not fit in. With a roof rack, you can place bike racks and a long roof box on the roof. The lower stance of the sedan means convenient access to the cargo, so you can handle sports equipment directly from the ground without stepping on the door sills.
