The first generation designated BK from 2003 to 2009 uses fixed points prepared directly in the roof. The rack feet screw into these designated spots, which makes correct crossbar spacing easier. You can find the offer for this period on the page for BK generation.
For newer models, the manufacturer switched to a solution without these points. The third generation BM from 2013 to 2019 and the fourth generation BP, whose production started in 2019, have a bare roof. When determining the generation, always follow the year of manufacture recorded in the vehicle registration document, as the year of first registration may be shifted.

Mazda 3 has a relatively low silhouette, which is an advantage when loading. You can comfortably place both bicycles and skis on the roof without having to step on the door sills.
When installing a roof box, monitor its position relative to the tailgate. The hatchback rear spoiler lifts high when the trunk is fully opened, so it is wise to slide the box slightly forward in the rack grooves so that the trunk lid does not hit it.
