The Kodiaq can carry a lot in its trunk, but when fully occupied by seven passengers or on a family trip to the mountains, the roof is a welcome extension of space. Choosing a rack starts with selecting the generation, because the older and newer models use a different mounting type.
The first generation NS7 produced from 2016 to 2024 features raised roof rails. These stand above the surface and create a gap along their entire length between the rails and the sheet metal, through which you can easily slip your fingers.
The second generation PS, starting production in 2024, switched to flush roof rails. These fit closely to the roof without any gap. The sets between these generations are not interchangeable because the rack feet mount on a completely different principle.
The Kodiaq is a tall vehicle, so when handling cargo it helps to stand on the open door sill. You will gain better reach to the center of the roof when securing skis or mounting a box, and you won't unnecessarily scratch yourself against the fenders.
When driving with a loaded roof box, take into account the noticeable increase in the overall height of the car. You need to be most careful before entering underground garages, parking structures, or when driving under low shelters.
The exact package contents vary for individual products. We therefore recommend checking the detail of the selected product, where you will find information about the design of the feet, the shape of the crossbars, and the presence of locks.
If you already have bicycle racks or an older roof box at home, verify their compatibility with the selected crossbars. Some accessories mount via a T-slot in the upper part of the crossbar, while others use fastening via clamps around the bar profile.
