The Passat Alltrack can carry family luggage as well as sports equipment, but the choice of crossbars depends on the car generation. Choose your production period B7 or B8 and proceed to the correct mounting.
There are two generations for the Passat Alltrack and the racks are not interchangeable between them, because each uses a different roof type. The production year stated in the vehicle registration document is decisive.
The older model Passat Alltrack B7 from 2012 to 2014 uses raised roof rails. These rise above the roof profile and you can easily slip your hand underneath them along their entire length. The newer version Passat Alltrack B8 from 2015 to 2024 has flush roof rails, which are fitted directly onto the roof without a gap.
The Passat Alltrack is often used for long family trips to nature, skiing or camping. The long estate roof offers plenty of space for mounting a spacious roof box, or a combination of a narrower box with a bicycle carrier.
When loading bicycles or heavier luggage, the height of the car plays a role. Although the Alltrack has a slightly raised chassis compared to a standard estate, the roof still remains comfortably accessible from the ground and handling the load does not require stepping on the door sills.
