Our offer is divided into three main generations, which differ in body shape and the mounting method of the feet. The production year stated in your vehicle registration document is decisive.
For older vehicles from 2001 to 2009, use generation 9N. This is followed by generation 6R manufactured from 2009 to 2017. For newer vehicles whose production started in 2017, choose the generation AW category.
Most Polo versions rolled off the production line as a classic hatchback with a bare roof. Such a body has no raised elements prepared, and the roof rack is mounted using a fitting kit under the door frame.
For generations 9N and 6R, you may also encounter plastic-clad variants that feature raised rails. You can easily recognize them: they stand above the roof and have free space underneath along their entire length, through which you can slide your hand. The rack foot then grips such a rail from both the outside and the inside.
Thanks to the compact vehicle height, loading bicycles and skis onto a Polo is very convenient. You don't need to stand on the door sills or bring a stool. The car serves just as well for transporting a roof cargo box.
However, always verify the maximum permissible roof load specified by the manufacturer in the vehicle manual. Remember that this weight limit must include not only the cargo itself, but also the weight of the crossbars and the empty box.
