The Mercedes-Benz B-Class has been introduced in three generations, which differ in roof shape and mounting point spacing. The first generation W245 covers the years 2005 to 2011. The second generation designated W246 came to the market in 2011 and was produced until 2018. The third generation W247 started production in 2018.
When selecting, follow the year of manufacture in your vehicle registration document. The date of first registration may be later and could lead you to the wrong generation.
All three generations of this model use fixation points for roof rack attachment. These are manufacturer-prepared mounting positions on the vehicle roof into which the rack foot with the mounting kit fits precisely.
The placement and angles of these points differ between generations. Crossbars designed for an older model will therefore not fit a newer one and vice versa. Always verify the exact package contents of a given set in the detail of the specific product.
The taller body of the B-Class provides an excellent view from the car, but when loading a roof box or bicycles, it means a slightly higher load position. The open door sill, on which you can stand safely, will serve to secure equipment in the middle of the roof.
With a roof box mounted, expect a greater total vehicle height. Before entering indoor parking lots or garage doors, it is worth checking the height limit.
