Generations T31 and T32 differ fundamentally in how crossbars are mounted on them. On the T31 model, fixing points are used, which are pre-prepared places in the roof by the manufacturer.
The T32 model has raised roof rails on the roof. You can recognize them by the fact that they stand above the roof surface and you can easily slip your fingers under them. The X-Trail is among the taller SUVs, which affects cargo handling. When loading bicycles or filling a roof box, it is useful to use the tailgate sill as a step.
Also consider the overall height of the vehicle after installing racks or a box. On regular roads this is not a problem, but in underground garages and covered entrances, it is better to check the permitted clearance height in advance.
