Select the generation of your Opel Astra Sports Tourer estate according to the year of manufacture in your vehicle registration document. The mounting method for the crossbars varies between individual versions, so choosing the correct generation is the first step towards a perfectly fitting roof rack.
Over the years, the estate version of the Astra has featured various roof solutions. On the older version, which is the G generation from 1998 to 2004, you will find raised roof rails. These stand above the body surface and you can easily slide your hand underneath them.
Subsequent years brought a change in the form of a gapless solution. For example, the J generation from 2010 to 2015 uses flush roof rails that lie tightly against the roof along their entire length. With the modern model, which is the L generation starting production in 2022, the manufacturer returned to clean lines and the vehicle has a bare roof. In this case, the roof rack feet are clamped under the door frame.
Although the Astra Sports Tourer has a spacious boot, when packing for a skiing trip or a family summer holiday with a pram, a roof box is a welcome helper. Thanks to the relatively low silhouette of the estate, you can load skis and secure bicycles directly from the ground without having to step on the door sills.
When mounting a longer box, keep in mind the position of the tailgate. Before finally tightening the crossbars, open the boot fully and check that the top spoiler does not hit the rear of the box.
Individual crossbar sets differ in profile shape, driving noise, and the method of mounting accessories. Before purchasing, always carefully check the package contents directly in the selected product detail so you know what mounting elements a specific variant includes.
