The RAV4 can hold a lot, but bikes, luggage, and four people at once cannot fit together. Crossbars are the simplest answer to this, and they get used all year round on this car. Choose the generation by production year; with the RAV4, this matters more than with other models.

The fourth generation is the only one where the production year alone is not enough for the selection. Some cars came with raised rails, others with a bare roof, and the fitting kit cannot be interchanged between them. Stand by the side of the car: if there are raised rails running from the front to the rear doors, you are looking for the set for raised rails. If the roof is clean, you need the set for a bare roof, shaped for the RAV4.
XA30 and XA40 overlapped in 2012, and XA20 and XA30 in 2005. The model year in advertisements is often shifted compared to actual production, so for a car from these years it is worth checking the vehicle registration document. A difference of one year here means a completely different kit.
