How to identify the GF generation and its roof type

The GF generation was introduced in 2012. Unlike its predecessor designated as CW, this Outlander features flush rails. You can recognize them by the fact that they sit flush against the vehicle roof along their entire length with no gap underneath.

If you own a 2012 vehicle and there is a gap between the rail and the roof, you have the older Outlander CW, which uses a different mounting method.
