Most Polo 6R models rolled off the assembly line with a bare roof, where the rack grips the body lip in the door area. However, if you drive the CrossPolo version, your car has raised roof rails. These stand above the body level and you can easily slide your fingers underneath them along their entire length.
These two designs use completely different feet and mounting kits. Choose the filter based on what you actually see on your roof, otherwise the crossbars will not fit your car.
For the bare roof version, also pay attention to the number of doors. On the five-door hatchback, the rear feet anchor into the rear door frame, while the three-door version requires a different mounting method onto the body lip near the rear window. Therefore, check the package contents and compatibility with your body type in the specific product detail.
Also check the exact production year in your vehicle registration document. The year 2009 was a transitional one with the previous model Polo 9N, and in 2017 the newer generation Polo AW arrived.

When choosing accessories, keep the bar profile in mind. Aluminum profiles usually allow accessories to be inserted into the T-track in the crossbar, while steel bars use clamp mounting around the entire profile.
